“Second Saturday”- March 11 on the Rappahannock County Artisan Trail

All across the county trail sites are featuring a diverse collection of special events, artist classes, farm-to-table workshops, exclusive open studio experiences, special package rates for lodging, culinary highlights, wonderful wines and more!

Belle Meade B & B  Trail Site # 79: (353 Fort Valley RD, Sperryville, VA 22740)

“Footloose”, the musical. Dancing isn’t a crime, but missing “Footloose” would be. Presented by Belle Meade School. March 11th, Soup & bread @ 1:15 pm, Show at 2:00 pm Adults: $20 Students: $15

Also at Belle Meade – Take a tour of Belle Meade B & B and farm, stay for 2 nights and receive $20 off for each night. Belle Meade Bed & Breakfast is located on 138-acres defined by mountains, streams, rolling hills, pastures, woodlands, a pond, and an abundance of life. At Belle Meade guests can slow their pace, relax, eat delicious farm-fresh cuisine, sit by the wood stove in the parlor, enjoy a massage, and breathe. All farm products 10% off. We raise grass fed and finished beef, pastured pork and chicken (non-GMO food). Eggs from pastured hens eating a natural diet (non-GMO food, no hormones, antibiotics).

Blue Ridge Artisans – DKArtFelt Trail Site # 8: Artist – Dabney Kirchman (12018 B Lee Highway, Sperryville, VA 22740)

Wool Worry-Stone Workshop (hand-made felt!) Using olive oil soap, merino wool & traditional wet-felting technique create a smooth felt stone. Perfect for your desk or pocket. Class size is limited; all supplies included. It may be helpful to bring a towel & scissors.  Time: 11:00 am – 1:30 pm.  Cost: $35.00

Blue Ridge Artisans – Spirit Trail Fiberworks Trail Site # 106:  Artist – Jennifer Heverly (12018 B Lee Highway, Sperryville, VA 22740)

Second Saturday Learn to Knit Workshop. Come by for a free 30-minute knitting lesson with the purchase a beginner’s knitting kit (includes gorgeous locally-dyed yarn in your choice of color, knitting needles, small tools, and pattern). Lessons will begin every half hour, and are available from 10 am – 4:00 pm. Additional 10% off all Spirit Trail Fiberworks purchases made in-studio on March 11, 2017. (PLEASE NOTE: We are in the lower level of the tan one-room schoolhouse to the right of the large red schoolhouse building, where Cottage Curator is located on the upper level. Sidewalk down the left of the building brings you to our door).

Hughes River Trading Co. Trail site: # 14 Artist – Margaret Rogers (The printmaking studio is behind the Central Coffee Roastery @ 11836 Lee Highway, Sperryville VA 22740)

“Intaglio Printmaking”The power of the press belongs to those who can operate one! The secrets of Intaglio Printmaking ~ Methods, materials, & press. Understanding terms and how the tools work. Safety first and picking the right materials to work with. Rogers will explain and demonstrate by puling prints. Prints will be for sale in the gallery and coffee tasting room in the Roastery. Coffee and Art! What could be better? No Fee. Demo and Handouts. Time: 12:00pm – 4:30pm

Ridge Line Designs LLC, Trail site: #33  Artist – Gina Irwin (10 River Lane, Sperryville, VA 22740)

Ridge Line Designs has a wide variety of vintage, and estate jewelry, also handmade “one of a kind” pieces by Gina Irwin. A large selection of Native American jewelry can be found here as well. Gina`s Beaded Necklaces are on sale for Second Saturday. Time 11:00am – 6:00pm, no fee

Middle Street Gallery Trail Site: 45 (31 Main St, Sperryville, VA 22740)

Art Reception for “Haiku” The Middle Street Gallery Artist members will exhibit their work accompanied by “Haiku”. Opening Reception – March 11th, Time: 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm

 

Rappahannock Cellars Trail Site # 63: (14437 Hume Rd, Huntly, VA 22640

Come and get your glass engraved by local artist Patty Sevre! Cost varies by design and detail of what you want engraved. Patty can engrave any glass including wine glasses and wine bottles (yes, even full ones)! Time: 11:30am – 5:00pm.
