All across the county, our trail sites are featuring a diverse collection of special events, artist classes, farm-to-table workshops, exclusive open studio experiences, special package rates for lodging, culinary highlights, wonderful wines and more!

As most of the sites throughout the weekend are on our Artisan Trail, you can click their links below to be directed to more information on their activities year ‘round.  And, be sure to stop in at the Bedford Area Welcome Center to pick up a trail map/brochure the minute you hit the region!

Here’s what you’ll find on Friday, August 11, 2017:

 

2nd Friday in Bedford – Trail Site #69 (Bridge and Main Street, Bedford, VA 24523)

A monthly evening of art openings, fine dining, specialty shops, and live music throughout the historic Town of Bedford. 5:00-8:00 pm

 

 

 

Goose Creek Studio – Trail Site #29 (302 Court Street, Bedford, VA 24523)

Suzanne Paddock Exhibition Opening – During the month of August, Goose Creek Studio will feature a series of new paintings by Suzanne V. Paddock. Suzanne’s studio is a site on the Bedford Artisan Trail and she also displays her work upstairs in the Old Jail Hill Art Space and at Bower Center for the Arts. Please join us for an opening reception during 2nd Friday in Bedford.  5:00-8:00 pm

 

 

 

MOArts Gallery at Moneta/Smith Mountain Lake Library  – Trail Site #79 (1364 Moneta Road, Moneta, VA 24121)

Buckley Moss Exhibition – The watercolors of P. Buckley Moss have charmed many Virginians, are collected by art lovers nationwide, and are treasured by those who love country décor. Struck by the simplicity of Mennonite and Amish farm life and the beauty of the mountain landscape when she moved her family to Virginia years ago, she continues to gather inspiration from her surroundings. Moss includes references to decorative and primitive folk traditions in her uniquely graceful, iconic watercolors. In addition, some of Moss’ paintings interpret beloved local landmarks. Her exhibit in the MOarts Gallery will feature “The Peaks Visitor”, a painting of the mountains in Bedford County. Other similar paintings and prints will be included in the show. 10:00 am – 6:00 pm


Peaks of Otter Winery – Trail Site #29 (302 Court Street, Bedford, VA 24523)

A “Peachy” Open House – Sample peaches, nectarines and apples that we make into wine. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy our pavilion.  Purchase a bottle of wine and enjoy it while walking out through the orchards and vineyard. Families will enjoy our farm animals. You may taste three for free out of a free plastic cup or for $5 taste 20 out of a souvenir glass and keep your glass. Also, picnic and enjoy visiting our many farm animals. You may taste three for free out of a free plastic cup or for $5 taste 20 out of a souvenir glass and keep your glass. 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Forest Farmers Market  -Trail Site #38 (15583 Forest Road, Forest, VA 24551)

Weekly Farmers Market – Join us for our open air, producer-only market selling vegetables, fruit, meat, baked goods, plants and artisan crafts. 8:00 am-12:00 pm

 

 

Hickory Hill Vineyards – Trail Site #41 (1722 Hickory Cove Lane, Moneta, VA 24121)

Sunset Saturday Wine and Moonbeams Edition – Saturday evenings in the summer vineyard ring with good music, good conversation and dancing fireflies. Hickory Hill’s Sunset Saturdays music series are a popular local lake tradition with our 12th season in 2016.  Bring Lawn chairs or a blanket and a picnic. Enjoy our fine wines, grown and made right here by the glass or bottle to enjoy with your fare. Relax, sit back and enjoy the music of local artists as the sun fades and the stars slowly pop out in the sky.  $10 General Admission. Kids and Designated Drivers are free.  Scheduled to perform: The Road Scholars. 7:00-10:00 pm
