All across the county, our trail sites are featuring a diverse collection of special events, artist classes, farm-to-table workshops, exclusive open studio experiences, special package rates for lodging, culinary highlights, wonderful wines and more!

2nd Friday in Bedford – Trail Site #69 (Bridge and Main Street, Bedford, VA 24523)

A monthly evening of art openings, fine dining, specialty shops, and live music throughout the historic Town of Bedford. 5:00-8:00 pm






Goose Creek Studio – Trail Site #29 (302 Court Street, Bedford, VA 24523)

Bad Hare Days Opening Reception – 2nd Friday in Bedford, April 13, Goose Creek Studio will hold an opening reception for “Bad Hare Days” – a series of watercolors by Bedford artist Perri Mason featuring a mischievous, photobombing rabbit. With masterful artistic skill and a witty sense of humor, Mason has her “bad hare” showing up in the most curious of places and situations. 5:00-8:00 pm






Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest Trail Site #84 (1542 Bateman Bridge Road, Forest, VA 24551)

Naturalization Ceremony with Blue Ridge and Poplar Forest NSDAR – Join Poplar Forest and the Blue Ridge and Poplar Forest Chapters of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) in welcoming 30 new American citizens in honor of Thomas Jefferson’s 275th birthday. Birthday cake will be served to all following the ceremony. Admission to the ceremony is included with general admission to Poplar Forest. Admission includes a guided house tour and self-guided exploration of exhibits in the lower level of the house, the Wing of Offices, the ornamental grounds and slave quarter site. Admission fees: $16 for adults; $14 for seniors (ages 65+) and military (show ID); $8 for college students (must show ID) and teens (ages 12 – 18); $4 for youth (ages 6 – 11); and free for children under age 6 and Poplar Forest members. 11:00 am-1:00 pm

Hickory Hill Vineyards Trail Site #41 (1722 Hickory Cove LN, Moneta, VA 24121)

Celebrate Budbreak at Hickory Hill Vineyards. Gather around the fire pit to celebrate budbreak in the vineyard. Enjoy award winning wine with great friends and music as we watch the flames dance the afternoon away. Wine is available for purchase by the glass or bottle for those 21 and over. You may build your own Picnic-in-a-Bag from our offering of Boar’s Head® cheese and meats along with other VA made goodies or bring your own. Children welcome. No pets. No outside alcohol, per VA ABC. Coolers and picnic baskets will be inspected. Bonfire is dependent on the weather. (wind, fire ban, temperature, etc.) No admission fee. 2:00-5:00 pm



Peaks of Otter Winery and Orchards Trail Site #48 (1218 Elmos Rd, Bedford, VA 24523)

Blossom to Bottle Chili Cook-off – Come cheer runners the annual Blossom to Bottle 5K Race to benefit Bedford YMCA’s Oncology Wellness program.  After the race you may listen to music, enjoy some chili and free wine samples with a roaring fire. 5:00-6:30 pm


Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest Trail Site #84 (1542 Bateman Bridge Road, Forest, VA 24551)

Thomas Jefferson Craft Beer Tasting – Enjoy an afternoon dedicated to the pursuit of happiness in Jeffersonian style at the 5th Thomas Jefferson Craft Beer Tasting. Jefferson served beer and ale at his table daily and endeavored to perfect his recipe. Discover new brews from local and regional craft breweries and cideries. Pair your pints with local foods; shop for works by local artisans and vendors while enjoying performances by local musicians; and explore Jefferson’s octagonal villa—considered his most perfect work of architecture—at a reduced rate. Experience VIP hospitality at the Craft Beer Tasting with a Jefferson VIP pass, which includes access to a private tent on the rooftop of the villa’s service wing, a special tasting of specialty brews, heavy hors d’oeuvres and more! Jefferson VIP passes are $75 per person or $125 per couple. General admission to the Thomas Jefferson Craft Beer Tasting is $30 in advance for 20 tastings, $35 at the door the day of the event; $25 for 10 tastings at the door or $10 for non-tasting admission. 11:00 am-5:00 pm
