Second Saturday Crozet
Six MAT Trail Sites in the lively community of Crozet in western Albemarle County VA will launch SECOND SATURDAY CROZET on May 11, 2019! Join us each month for art events that explore, teach, demonstrate, introduce, inspire, and celebrate the wonder of art and the bounty of talented artists in our area. In May our galleries and shops are blooming with incredible art work, books, and ideas that welcome spring in Central Virginia. And the Crozet Spring Arts & Crafts Festival, a premier nationally-juried event, happens right here in our own backyard in May and October. So much to see and do… Please stop by and enjoy what we have in store for you in Crozet on the MAT on May 11!
CREATIVE FRAMING & THE ART BOX:
Technique Demonstration – Learn four different acrylic pouring techniques using Golden Color’s Pouring Mediums. 12:00pm-1:00pm.
Art Opening/May Featured Artist Reception – “The Quiet of Nature”, Oil Paintings & Etchings by Virginia artist Tom Tartaglino. With an incredible sense of detail and place, Tom’s work takes the viewer on an escape, deep into the natural world he paints. May 11, 2:00-4:00pm.
CROZET ARTISAN DEPOT:
Artist Demonstration – Debbie Ballowe of D & J Woodcrafts will demonstrate how her intricately detailed wood ornaments are created with a scroll saw. She will bring examples of her work showing all the stages of her process from beginning to end. May 11, 1:00-3:00pm. Free.
Art Opening/May Featured Artist Reception – “Being Outside”, Oil Paintings by Virginia artist Linda Staiger. Finding peace and tranquility in the natural landscape, Linda paints rivers, forests, trees, and flowers, aiming to express the awe of being out there in the beauty. May 11, 3:00-5:00pm.
CROZET SPRING ARTS & CRAFTS FESTIVAL:
The Crozet Spring Arts and Crafts Festival will be open 10am-5:30pm on Saturday and 10am-5pm on Sunday, May 11 and 12. The Festival benefits and is located at Claudius Crozet Park in historic Crozet, Virginia. The Festival features over 120 juried fine art and craft Exhibitors selling their own works in the big Festival Tent and Park Pavilions, as well as live music and entertainment all weekend, a special Children’s Area, and a great selection of food and drink! Adult admission is $7, Seniors $6, kids 12 and under are free.

Art Opening & May Featured Artist Reception – “Watercolor Florals” by Virginia artist Carol Martin. May 11, 5:00-7:00pm.
THE BARN SWALLOW ARTISAN GALLERY:
Art Opening/May Featured Artist Reception – “Blossoms” by Mary Ann Burk, potter and floral designer. Mary Ann welcomes the spring season with flowers both foraged and cultivated on her farm and presented in her one-of-a-kind Ikebana inspired vessels. May 11, 1:00-3:00pm.
PRO RE NATA FARM BREWERY (6135 Rockfish Gap Tpke)
1980’s Prom Night at PRN, complete with dress-up, DJ, etc.! May 11, 7:00-11:00pm. Free.
TWO OWLS POTTERY:
Artist Studio Open House – Roslyn Nuesch creates hand-made pottery for everyday use and enjoyment. Demos throughout the day. May 11, 9:00-5:00pm.
